You're first question is probably,
"Who the hell are Vinyl Tap? And who are they trying to kid?" Well now you
can learn their side of the story... Vinyl Tap were formed in the spring
of 1996 by a group of four musicians who were fed up with taking themselves seriously and
decided to have a laugh instead. As a by-product of this they found that they gave the
people who came to watch them what they wanted as well, a good time and a bit of a party.
All four members of the group were, and still are, big fans of the classic spoof rock band
movie Spinal Tap and so it seemed apt to base the band loosely along the lines of the
film. Vinyl Tap was born.
As mentioned before, the aim of Tap is for the band and the people who come along to see
them to have a laugh and a good time and so Vinyl Tap play the music that lets people
enjoy themselves. From the first to the last number the music is up and jumping and
includes, varying from one gig to another, just about every classic rock and rock and roll
number you can imagine from the fifties and sixties to the nineties.
Vinyl Tap believe in a giving a complete show so they don't hold back when it comes to the
sound and look of a classic rock band. They don't wear jeans and a T-shirt.
The line-up of Tap remains the original four members: -
Eddie Van Rental Lead Vocals, Bass
Randy Thodes Lead Guitar, Vocals
Rick Pastitt Rhythm Guitar, Vocals
Ian Paicemaker Lead Vocals, Drums
The newest "member" of the band is their "roadie" Joanna
Hunter. She's the creator of the new website and a new friend of bassist Eddie Van
Rental.
